Kolev Research Group
Our research is focused on the development of environmentally friendly microanalysis methods and membrane-based separation systems, including:
- Development of flow-based methods and instrumentation for automatic online chemical analysis of environmental pollutants such as heavy metals, nutrients and toxic anions.
- Development, study and application of novel extracting polymeric materials (polymer inclusion membranes and beads) for environmentally friendly separation and preconcentration of chemical species in industry, water cleanup, chemical analysis, and environmental monitoring.
- Development of microfluidic paper-based analytical devices for on-site environmental and clinical analysis.
- Study of the environmental fate and remediation of pollutants of considerable environmental interest in mine tailings, biosolids and landfills involving metal hyperaccumulating plants.
