International Women's Day in the School of Chemistry

The School of Chemistry celebrated International Women's Day with a lunch time forum.

Students, graduate researchers and early-career researchers gathered to discuss careers in research chemistry, industry and academia.

Featuring insights from Professor Penny Brothers, Head of the Research School of Chemistry at ANU, and Dr Charlotte Williams, Principal Research Scientist, Biomedical Manufacturing Program at CSIRO, this lunchtime session was a great success.

It was generally agreed that until family and child rearing issues are treated as issues for everyone, and not just women, we won't make any real progress on this front. The group also discussed work-life balance and career planning for the 50 or so attendants.
