Our outreach activities show students a mixture of new research, fundamental chemical principles and the chemistry of everyday life. We hold these activities on the University of Melbourne campus and at schools throughout Victoria.

Our Outreach Activities:
What's in Water? (VCE Unit 2):
Students analyse water samples for common organic contaminants and metal ions using either HPLC, AAS or UV-visible spectroscopy. This 3-hour workshop is held at the University of Melbourne from 28 May to 8 June.
Analytical Instruments (VCE Unit 4):
This program will introduce students to the principles and applications of organic chemistry and structural analysis. Students will complete an analysis by collecting and combining data from Mass Spectroscopy, 1H and 13CNMR and IR Spectroscopy. This 3-hour workshop with run at the University of Melbourne Parkville Campus from 28 May to 8 June.
Chemistry Tour (Years 11-12):
Free tours of the instruments and lab areas in the University of Melbourne's School of Chemistry are available year-round. Tours include a talk on careers in chemistry and are best suited for students in years 11 and 12.
