Undergraduate Study

Chemistry is the "Central Science" because of its relevance to physics, biology, the environment and technology.

Course structure / outline

Undergraduate study in Chemistry at the University of Melbourne requires enrolment in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree but chemistry can also be taken as a breadth component of a course. Students who choose to major in chemistry are able to continue onto higher degree study.

Depending on what you have studied at high school, you can choose chemistry subjects in your first year and then undertake a chemistry major and higher degree study. The BSc with a major in chemistry is accredited by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).
